Aspendos
Not far away in the shelter of a hill lies the largest and best preserved site of all Asia Minor: The Roman theatre of Aspendos. The town of the same name is in ruins, but we can still see some traces of it. Where there was once life, all that remains now is the theatre, which seems to have been spared by man and time. In fact, used as a caravanserai, it was preserved from any damage.
Nowadays, during the month of July, more than 15,000 spectators take their places for a festival of classical music. Majestic, this theatre has preserved many arches and columns and Bacchus still watches possessively over his theatre. From the hillside nearby, one can contemplate the centuries that preceded us and those people who walked on this land of Anatolia, which in many ways already looks like a golden Europe: generous, multi-cultural, historical and unforgettable.
