CESMEALTI [Pronounced as: Chesh-may-alta]
Known in ancient times as Clazomenae,
Urla Wharf and Cesmealti are famous for their beautiful nature and islands.
There are mountains, forests, numerous beaches and holiday towns in the surrounding area.
The prosperous little fishing village of Cesmealti is notable for its excellent fish restaurants.
Cycling, diving, fishing, windsurfing, horse riding, climbing and bird-watching
are some of the activities you could do in the area. Turkey’s biggest
Outdoor Sports Club Titus Feronia is only 20 minutes away.
The area between Izmir and Cesmealti was declared a natural heritage region in 1985, because of its importance as a vital stop for migratory birds. The area forms a natural bridge between the bird breeding areas in the north and the bird’s winter home in the south. May is the best month for bird-watching.
Cesmealti is a great place for windsurfing or kitesurfing.
There is a Windsurfing School 5 minutes away. The most consistent wind is the Meltemi during the summer months, blowing from the north/northwest reaching 5 to 6 beaufort in strength.
Guvendik is a recreational area situated in Cesmealti and
it covers an area of 15 hectares in red pine forest. Restaurants on the top of Guvendik hill afford a marvellous view of the bay and its islands.
Balcova, a half an hour’s drive from Cesmealti, has one of Turkey’s largest thermal spas, with an aqua park and excellent facilities for guests.
Cesmealti is also half an hour’s drive from
Cesme which has one of the longest sandy beaches in the country.
With its bars, restaurants and the famous night bazaar closing at 1 o’clock in the morning, Cesmealti is a small active town as well as a safe haven for children and
a perfect place to rest for adults.
